Healthcare Directive & Conversation Guide Dedication

Ematai is honored to announce the dedication of our Robert M. Beren Healthcare Directive & Conversation Guide, named in memory of philanthropist and communal leader Robert M. Beren, z”l, through the generosity of Robert M. Beren Family Foundation, Nancy T. Beren, Amy A.B. Bressman, Julie Beren Platt and Adam E. Beren, Directors.

Since Ematai’s founding in early 2023, advance care planning has been a cornerstone of our work. Through virtual and in-person workshops, we have helped raise awareness of the importance of advance planning across the Jewish community. These documents are now available in the United States, three provinces in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Israel. They were created in consultation with leading doctors, lawyers, and social workers and were endorsed as the official documents of the Rabbinical Council of America. This dedication in memory of Mr. Beren, z”l, will help Ematai expand our work to promote thoughtful planning and meaningful conversations with loved ones. This initiative joins Ematai’s Robert M. Beren Medical Halacha Helpline, available 24/7 for rabbinic guidance, and our Robert M. Beren Book Series in Bioethics and Halacha, with several titles set to be released in the next couple of years.

We are deeply grateful to Robert M. Beren Family Foundation for its continued partnership and support, helping ensure that Ematai can serve Jewish individuals and families worldwide as they navigate aging and end-of-life decisions with Jewish wisdom and halacha.
