Two Projects in Memory of Robert M. Beren, z”l

Newly Named Helpline and New Book Series

Ematai is thrilled to announce the dedication of two important projects:

Robert M. Beren Medical Halacha Helpline  &  Robert M. Beren Book Series in Bioethics and Halacha

Robert M. Beren Medical Halacha Hotline and Robert M. Beren Book Series in Bioethics and Halacha are named in memory of the prominent philanthropist and communal leader Robert M. Beren, z”l through the generosity of Robert M. Beren Family Foundation, Nancy T. Beren, Amy A.B. Bressman, Julie Beren Platt and Adam E. Beren, Directors.

When we started Ematai several years ago, we quickly realized that many patients, families, rabbis, and healthcare providers need a reliable source for halakhic and ethical guidance on end-of-life care dilemmas. The newly named Robert M. Beren Medical Halacha Helpline is available 24/7 to help you and your loved ones navigate difficult moments in your healthcare journey. No question is a bad question. We are here to help you!

Robert M. Beren Book Series in Bioethics and Halacha is a new project of Ematai to produce high-quality and accessible literature relating to Jewish law and medical ethics. These publications will advance Jewish legal discussion for experts while remaining comprehensible to the broader public. We hope that the first volume in this series will be published toward the end of 2025.

Both of these projects are important contributions to those looking for halakhic and ethical guidance to navigate the dilemmas faced by aging and end-of-life care.  We are deeply grateful to Robert M. Beren Family Foundation for their support of these initiatives.
